As a private tutor, there are two main ways you’ll find work: messages from parents or requests from our matching team (and you can read more about that here).

But parents won’t message you unless they’ve found and checked out your tutor profile.

Here are four things that you can do to get more profile views from interested parents:

Keep in mind that the subjects you offer can impact the number of profile views you get. Iif you teach popular subjects like Maths and Science, you’re likely to have more profile views than more niche subjects.

And don’t forget that tutoring follows predictable seasonal trends, so you’re likely to see more messages show up before exams, and less during the summer holidays.

Our Tutor Matching Team look at which tutors are available during the peak hours from 3 pm to 12 pm EST when they’re helping parents find a match. So make sure to keep this updated.

The numbers don’t lie. According to our records, if you have a high-quality, well-lit photo, then parents are 3x more likely to click on your profile.

We require all tutors to upload a passport-sized photo of you to be shown to the parents/students.

And if you’re not looking for work, you can always set your profile to ‘unavailable’, and we won’t show it to parents for the time being.
